We stayed in Campo Grande a couple of days and today we walked to the city center to check out what Campo Grande had to offer. First thing we did was to exchange dollars to Brazilian Reals, then to grab something to eat and to see if there was anything to do at all in the city.
After a lot of walking around, we managed to find a place where we could exchange our dollars, and then we found a mall and went to check it out. It was a really nice mall, we haven’t been to one in a long time, we didn’t see any while in Bolivia while we were there. Anyway, we found the food court and our hunger got the best out of us. So we checked what they offered and went for some feijoada dish with sausages. Nathy ordered something else, don’t remember what. Well, feijoada is rice and beans and the Brazilians have that on almost every dish they have. We were going to see a lot of that while in Brazil. After dinner we had some fun chasing each other around the food court until a security guard looked oddly at us. Then we strolled to the supermarket on the first floor of the mall and bought food for the next couple of days. We couldn’t eat out anymore; Brazil was not as cheap as Bolivia, so we had to compensate for that.
Well, got
back to the hostel and after chilling out a couple of hours in the lobby,
watching TV and skyping, a man came to talk to us. I actually don’t remember
his name, but he asked us if we wanted to join him for supper. He was going to
buy some meat and fire up the grill outside. Of course we accepted the generous
offer and thought that it could be polite to buy something to drink, so we went
out to buy beer. When we came back the grill was hot and pieces of meat were
already on it for us to taste. Two other men were there too, a man from
Floreanopolis named Augusto and a boy from somewhere else. Our host was from
Belem. What a great evening with these guys we had. Good food, beer and funny
conversations. It was a good start for us here in Brazil.
Next up…
Going to
Bonito
