Chile: Porvenir

The ferry

Back at Punta Arenas after our little trip to Calafate and we were really tired. So the only logical thing to do was to hit the sack. I went to my hostel and Nathy went to hers. For the rest of the day I just chilled. Tomorrow we were going to Porvenir early in the morning so we needed to rest.

Next morning we took a cab to the harbor. Then we waited to board the ferry that would take us to Porvenir.
3 hours on the ferry and Bam! We got our asses to Porvenir and “ Tierra del fuego”. To get to town we had to take a bus that was packed. We pushed ourselves in and off we went. After about 10 minutes we got from the harbor to town.  Hmm… There is not a lot to say about the little town of Porvenir. We walked from north to south of town in less than 20 minutes, hehe.Well, one of the first things we did was to go to the local museum of Porvenir. And after that we walked towards the cemetery. Not much to see since Porvenir is really small.

At the cemetery

Uhm.... Tsunami danger?

The local indian

I must say that the weather did not accompany us. It was raining almost all the time. After a while Nathy got hungry (as usual) so we deemed it necessary to find a place to eat. But we could not find a single decent place to dine. All the places we found were deserted and the peeps that were attending didn’t even know what was on the menu. Blæh. After a lot of walking around we found this place that made empanadas. But since it was Sunday the guy only had leftovers from yesterday and I can’t say he had a lot to offer. Anyway, we were hungry and so we bought his last two empanadas. After that, we decided to go back to the harbor, we were wet and still kinda hungry and we heard that there was supposed to be a diner there. We caught a cab and at the pier we found a small restaurant. While waiting for our boat back to Punta Arenas we had some French fries and a coke. Not a good dinner but it would do for now.
Back in Punta Arenas I had to make ready my backpack. My plan is to go back to Villa Alemana as soon as possible, since there have been some bad news on Gerhards part. His bussines partner left him and he is kinda in need of a helping hand. (or just some moral support) So, I'll try to leave to Puerto Montt tomorrow.

Next up...
Omw to Villa Alemana...
